More Dequindre Cut

I had some nice feedback on the Dequindre Cut post, and some of it I’m going to pass along.

First off, Detroiter and my friend Kelli Kavanaugh recently had a piece published in Metropolis magazine about the Dequindre Cut, Cut Loose from the Car.  It’s an interesting overview of the project, and it includes some great pictures.  In addition to her work as a freelance writer, Kelli is the development news editor for Model D, and co-proprietrix of the Detroit Wheelhouse, your one-stop shop for Riverfront bike rentals and repairs!

Secondly, my pal Arthur Mitchell reminded me about a jaunt he took through the Cut last summer on one of his Tour de Hood bike tours.  The Tour de Hood is a bike tour Arthur leads from his home base in Grosse Pointe through the East Side to Avalon Bakery in Midtown, and then back along the Riverfront and through Indian Village.  He sees the pretty and the ugly on his tours, and his blog from his rides last summer is a great read.
